Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by this city - 1 And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that never will anyone overcome him? 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 and a tongue, and two lips, 9 And did We not guide him to the two elevated things? 10 Yet he attempteth not the steep, 11 And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? 12 (It is) the setting free of a slave, 13 Or the giving of food in a day of hunger 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 Or some poor wretch in misery, 16 And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 whereas those who are bent on denying the truth of Our messages - they are such as have lost themselves in evil, 19 Over them shall be Fire closing round. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
