Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
