And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron. 114 And We saved them and their people from the great distress; 115 and succoured them, so that [in the end] it was they who achieved victory. 116 We granted them a Clear Book, 117 And We led the twain on unto the straight path. 118 and perpetuated their praise in later generations. 119 'Peace be upon Moses and, Aaron!' 120 Thus do We reward the righteous ones. 121 Verily the twain were of Our bondmen believing. 122 AND, BEHOLD, Elijah [too] was indeed one of Our message-bearers 123 when he said to his people, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 Call ye upon Bal and forsake the Best of creators. 125 God your Lord and Lord of your forefathers?" 126 Then they belied him, so verily they are to be brought up. 127 But not the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 128 And we left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 129 "Peace and salutation to such as Elias!" 130 Lo! thus do We reward the good. 131 Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves. 132 Lot, too, was among the Messengers. 133 Wherefore We saved him and his entire family 134 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 135 Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathir]. 136 Verily, ye pass by their (sites), by day- 137 And at night. Will ye not therefore reflect? 138
