The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
