The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 While eyes are downcast 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 you pay attention 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
