He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 to a rich man, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruit and grass - 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
