The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 that hide, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 The rising dawn, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 where then are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
