Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
89 verses, revealed in Mecca after Consultation (Al-Shooraa) before Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha-Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 behold, We have caused it to be a discourse in the Arabic tongue, so that you might encompass it with your reason. 3 And the Qur’an is undoubtedly, in the Original Book with Us, surely the exalted, full of wisdom. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 And how many a prophet We sent among the ancients. 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier in courage than they. And the example of the ancients has passed away. 8 If thou wert to question them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth?' They would be sure to reply, 'they were created by (Him), the Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge';- 9 [The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride, 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 And to our Lord we shall surely return." 14 Yet they have assigned to Him a part of His own servants! Man is dearly unthankful. 15

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
