The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and shade extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for those on the Right, 38
