▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
NAY, but consider the moon! 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 it is a warning to man, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
