The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 that hide, 16 The closing night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
