The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
