The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And stay away from idols. 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 He looked (at others); 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
