I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 we fed not the needy, 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
