The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
