Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
