Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 which then blow tempestuously 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 Then separate them, one from another, 4 Then spread abroad a Message, 5 To end all argument or to warn. 6 Surely that which ye are promised will befall. 7 Then when the stars lose their lights; 8 And when the sky is riven asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 to what day shall they be deferred? 12 For the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]! 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Did We not destroy the ancient people 16 We shall then send the latter after them. 17 Even thus shall We deal with the guilty. 18 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 Which We laid up in a safe abode 21 For a certain appointed time, 22 We determined, how excellent a Determiner are We! 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and given you fresh water to drink? 27 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 28 'Depart unto that which ye were wont to belie. 29 "Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 which neither provides (cooling) shade nor protection against the flames; 31 "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, 32 "As if there were (a string of) yellow camels (marching swiftly)." 33 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 34 This is the Day they shall not speak, 35 Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 37 This is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples. 38 If you are cunning, then try your cunning against Me! 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
