The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and gathered his people together 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
