The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Their reckoning has drawn near to men, and in heedlessness are they turning aside. 1 Comes not unto them an admonition (a chapter of the Quran) from their Lord as a recent revelation but they listen to it while they play, 2 With hearts preoccupied. And they confer in secret. The wrong-doers say: Is this other than a mortal like you? Will ye then succumb to magic when ye see (it)? 3 He said: 'My Lord has knowledge of what is said in the heavens and on earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower' 4 Nay, they say:"These (revelations of the Quran which are inspired to Muhammad SAW) are mixed up false dreams! Nay, he has invented it! Nay, he is a poet! Let him then bring us an Ayah (sign as a proof) like the ones (Prophets) that were sent before (with signs)!" 5 Before them, not one of the communities which We destroyed believed either. Will these believe? 6 And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. 7 And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]. 8 Then We fulfilled to them the promise, and We saved them and those whom We willed, but We destroyed Al-Musrifun (i.e. extravagants in oppression, polytheism and in sin). 9 We have indeed sent down towards you a Book, in which is your repute; so do you not have sense? 10
