The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right. 38
