The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
