The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
