The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
