He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 you attended to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 olives, dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
