The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
