The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
