The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, 1 and the Book inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 By the House Frequented. 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
