Samood rejected the warning. 23 they said, "Are we to follow a man from amongst ourselves? We would surely then fall into error and madness. 24 Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar. 25 (We told Salih), "Tomorrow they will know who is the most arrogant liar. 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 Let them know that the water should be divided between them and the she-camel, each availing their turn.” 28 But they summoned their [boldest] companion, and he ventured [upon the evil deed,] and cruelly slaughtered [the animal]: 29 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a Favour from Us, thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us). 35 And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings. 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 40
