Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou folded in garments! 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 half the night, or a little less 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 Then how can you avoid the punishment, if you disbelieve, on a Day that will make the children grey-headed (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)? 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 Surely this is a Reminder; so let him who will take unto his Lord a way. 19
