By the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 a warning to mortal man 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
