A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 And how many cities have We destroyed, and Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 Then naught was their cry when Our violence came upon them save that they said: verily we have been the wrong-doers. 5 So undoubtedly We shall question those to whom Our Noble Messengers went, and indeed We shall question the Noble Messengers. 6 with full knowledge, We shall tell them what they did, for We have never been away from them. 7 The weighing on that day is the true (weighing). As for those whose scale is heavy, they are the successful. 8 Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for that they wrongfully treated Our signs. 9 And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful. 10
