If affliction befalls you, it is what your own hands have earned, but He pardons a lot. 30 And you cannot escape in the earth; and you have neither a friend nor any supporter against Allah. 31 And among His Signs are the ships, in the sea, like mountains. 32 He could stop the wind if He pleased, then they would be stranded on its surface. Surely there are signs in this for every one who perseveres and is grateful. 33 Or He can cause them to perish because of the (evil) which (the men) have earned; but much doth He forgive. 34 And [that is so] those who dispute concerning Our signs may know that for them there is no place of escape. 35 Whatever you have received is just a means of enjoyment for this life but the reward of God for the believers and those who trust in their Lord will be better and everlasting. 36 who eschew grave sins and shameful deeds, and whenever they are angry, forgive; 37 who obey their Lord and establish Prayer; who conduct their affairs by consultation, and spend out of what We have bestowed upon them; 38 and who, when insolence visits them, do help themselves -- 39 But [remember that an attempt at] requiting evil may, too, become an evil: hence, whoever pardons [his foe] and makes peace, his reward rests with God - for, verily, He does not love evildoers. 40 And whoever defends himself after his being oppressed, these it is against whom there is no way (to blame). 41 The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and revolt in the earth unjustly; these shall have a painful punishment. 42 To exercise patience and forgive (the wrong done to one) is the proof of genuine determination. 43
