Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 They entered to him and said: 'Peace' And he replied: 'Peace, you are people unknown to me' 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 He placed it before them. Then he said, "Why are you not eating?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! and gave him tidings of (the birth of) a wise son. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 marked by your Lord for the sinful' 34 So We brought forth such believers as were in it, 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 they could not stand up again, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
