The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 facing one another. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right hand; 38
