The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a fitting requital, 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
