The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
