Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Most Auspicious is He in Whose control is the entire kingship; and He is Able to do all things. 1 He created death and life so that He might test you, and find out which of you is best in conduct. He is the Mighty, the Most Forgiving One. 2 Who hath created seven heavens in storeys. Thou shalt not behold in the Compassionate's creation any over-sight; then repeat thy look, beholdest thou any crack? 3 Then turn back the eye again and again; your look shall come back to you confused while it is fatigued. 4 And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We have made such lamps (as) missiles to drive away the Shayatin (devils), and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing Fire. 5 The chastisement of Hell awaits those who disbelieve in their Lord. What a wretched destination! 6 When they shall be cast therein, they shall hear a loud moaning of it as it heaves, 7 It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask: "Did no warner come to you?" 8 They say: Yea, verily, a warner came unto us; but we denied and said: Allah hath naught revealed; ye are in naught but a great error. 9 They will further say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we should not (now) be among the Companions of the Blazing Fire!" 10 So now they admit their sins! Therefore accursed be the people of hell! 11 For those who fear their Lord in secret is forgiveness and a great reward. 12 (Whether you) speak in secret or aloud, He knows the innermost of the chests. 13 Does He not know, Who created? And He is the Knower of the subtleties, the Aware. 14
