The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sky containing great stars 1 and [then bethink thyself of] the promised Day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 may the people be condemned those who tortured (the believers) in ditches 4 Of fire fuel-fed, 5 when they were seated over it 6 fully conscious of what they are doing to the believers, 7 and their revenge on them was only because they believed in Allah, the Almighty, the Praised, 8 Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is a Witness of all things. 9 Those who persecute the believers, men and women, and then have not repented, there awaits them the chastisement of Gehenna, and there awaits them the chastisement of the burning. 10 But those who believe and do good deeds shall be rewarded with gardens watered by flowing rivers. That is the supreme triumph. 11 Verily the grip of thine Lord is severe. 12 It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life). 13 And He alone is truly-forgiving, all-embracing in His love, 14 Lord of the Arsh, the Glorious, 15 Executor of His own will. 16 HAS IT ever come within thy ken, the story of the [sinful] hosts 17 of the Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial 19 and God is behind them, encompassing. 20 Nay; but this is a glorious Qur'an, 21 in a guarded tablet. 22
