The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Beneficent (God) 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man. 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
