▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
