He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fearfully, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
