The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
