When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
