The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 which hurled people around like uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
