The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
