The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 arise and warn, 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
