A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 (People), follow whatever is revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other guardians besides Him. However, you pay very little attention (to Our words) 3 How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest. 4 And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!" 5 So We shall call to account those to whom Messengers were sent, and We shall call to account the Messengers (to see how dutifully they conveyed the Message, and how people responded to it). 6 Then We shall narrate to them with knowledge the whole account. For surely, We were not away from them. 7 And the weighing on that day (Day of Resurrection) will be the true (weighing). So as for those whose scale (of good deeds) will be heavy, they will be the successful (by entering Paradise). 8 And whosesoever balances will be light - those are they who have lost themselves in respect of Our signs. 9 And We have given you (mankind) power in the earth, and appointed for you therein livelihoods. Little give ye thanks! 10
