The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. Those are the signs of the Book and of a manifest Koran. 1 Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam. 2 Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know. 3 Whenever We destroyed a town, a definite term had previously been decreed for it. 4 No people can hasten or delay the term already fixed for them. 5 They say: "O you to whom the Admonition has been revealed, you are surely crazed. 6 Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?" 7 We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have! 8 As for the Admonition, indeed it is We Who have revealed it and it is indeed We Who are its guardians. 9 (O Muhammad), certainly We did send Messengers before you among the nations which have gone by. 10 and never yet came an apostle to them without their deriding him. 11 This is how We make the mocking* enter the hearts of the guilty. (* The acts of disbelief.) 12 That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away. 13 And if We opened upon them a door of the heaven, and they passed the day mounting thereto. 14 They would certainly say: Only our eyes have been covered over, rather we are an enchanted people. 15
