Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
