The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Praise be to God who has sent down to His servant -- the Book, which is free from any ambiguity 1 Rightly directing, that he might give warning of severe punishment from Him and give good news to the believers who do good that they shall have a goodly reward, 2 Staying in it for ever; 3 And warn those who say: Allah has taken a son. 4 No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying what they say is nothing but falsehood! 5 But wouldst thou, perhaps, torment thyself to death with grief over them if they are not willing to believe in this message? 6 Surely We have made all that is on the earth an embellishment for it in order to test people as to who of them is better in conduct. 7 And most surely We will make what is on it bare ground without herbage. 8 Do you think that the people of the Cave and the Inscription (the news or the names of the people of the Cave) were a wonder among Our Signs? 9 When the young men took refuge in the Cave – then said, “Our Lord! Give us mercy from Yourself, and arrange guidance for us in our affair.” 10 We sealed off their ears in the cave for a number of years, 11 Afterwards. We raised them up again, that We might know which of the two parties would better calculate the while they had tarried. 12
